Fine motor skills
All day long we do things with our hands and fingers. During play children develop fine motor skills as they play. When this is difficult a child can easily loose the joy in colouring, cutting, pasting, using utensils, dressing because of the stupid buttons etc.
I assess why these motor skills are difficult. What exactly makes this a challenge? Sometimes it is underlying motor skills, i.e. not enough shoulder stability. Other times it can be reduced body awareness, poor coordination etc. By setting goals with the child that match with what is important to them, the child gets motivated to practise. By using play that matches their interest and abilities we work on improving these skills in order to build more self-confidence.
